DIRECTIONS

The event will be held in an area of degraded coastal woodland south of Fingal Head. Volunteers will need to walk approximately 500 metres from Fingal Road to the site, through woodland adjacent to Dreamtime Beach. The chosen site is part of remnant coastal woodland that was severely affected by sand-mining in the 1960's. Replanting with non-native species (e.g. Bitou Bush) and neglect has led to serious weed infestations, such as glory lily, lantana and asparagus fern. Fingal Head Coastcare has been gradually clearing the weed infestations and replanting with native plant species. The proposed project site is within crown land managed by Tweed Shire Council and adjacent to land managed by the Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council (TBLALC). A map showing parking areas and access track will be posted closer to the day. The access tracks will be clearly marked. We are grateful for the sponsorship of Bupa and Landcare Australia for this community tree planting event.
