City of Yarra/Merri Creek Management Committee

Burnley Park serves as an essential urban sanctuary for wildlife, emphasizing the importance of creating habitats that support the health of the Birrarung (Yarra River) through targeted planting. Flora selected in today's planting project aims to improve the quality of the remnant nationally recognized Endangered EVC Plains Grassy Woodland, of which less than 1% remains in Australia. This initiative not only contributes to supporting pollinators, biodiversity but also plays a vital role in the conservation of a critically diminished ecosystem.
